Health and Entrepreneurship
So in my lifetime, I never really cared about health like that. I remember hearing comments from older folks, shit like, "You won't be young forever, or "You better start paying attention to your health now before it's too late!" In my head I was like," Ya, ok, lol. I felt pretty invincible for a while. Although I started smoking cigarettes at about 10 or 11 years old, I was pretty decent until my 30's. As soon as the 40's came around, Boooooyyyyyyy I should have listened! Mr. I Don't feel good came over to my house and said, "What up OC, I'm here to piss you the fuck off by making sure you say my name all the time, hahaha! From then on, my health has been a bitch, hence the title above.
It's now March of 2024 everyone, that's just crazy to me. I for sure thought by now we all would be flying cars around like the movie series, "Back to the Future" but nope, just societal hate, police brutality, city riots and artificial intelligence. Oh my bad, and COVID 19, wtf ya'll, smh. Shit crazy as hell right now. But enough of all that let me refocus on the purpose of today's blog post, Health and Entrepreneurship. Unfortunately these words do not mesh, but to keep business afloat, we have to try our best to remain as consistent as possible. I know firsthand because I've been sick a lot these past 2 years, it's extremely hard, but there are a few things we can do. People have a tendency to dismiss your relevance when you're not around, so let me list a few tips.
Prioritize Your Health:
- See a Doctor: Getting a diagnosis and treatment plan is crucial. You might need adjustments to manage your illness effectively.
- Consider Reduced Hours: If possible, temporarily reduce your work hours to focus on recovering.
Business Continuity:
- Delegate Tasks: Can you delegate tasks to a trusted employee or freelancer?
- Outsource Services: Consider outsourcing non-essential tasks like bookkeeping or marketing.
- Utilize Technology: Explore project management tools and communication platforms to stay connected and manage workflow remotely.
- Automate: some of your workflow if possible.
Communicate with Clients/Fans: Be upfront with clients about your situation and adjust deadlines or expectations as needed.
Long-Term Solutions:
- Build a Team: If feasible, consider hiring an assistant or partner to share the workload and responsibilities.
- Review Business Structure: Explore transitioning to a partnership or limited liability company (LLC) to separate your personal finances from business liabilities.
